Graphite Petroleum Coke
GPC carbon raiser, or Graphitized Petroleum Coke carbon raiser, is a type of carbon additive that is commonly used in the production of steel and other metals. It is made from petroleum coke, which is a byproduct of the oil refining process, and it is graphitized by heating it to high temperatures in the presence of an inert gas.
Graphite petroleum coke has a high carbon content, low ash content, and low sulfur content, and is used as a carbon source for steelmaking, as well as for the production of other carbon-based products.

Application and Features of GPC Carbon Raiser
- In steelmaking, graphite petroleum coke is used as a carbon additive to increase the carbon content of the steel, which improves its strength and durability. It is added to the molten steel in the form of briquettes or as a powder, and it reacts with the oxygen and other impurities in the molten steel to form carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. This process removes the impurities and reduces the oxygen content in the steel, which improves its quality and properties.
- Graphite petroleum coke is also used as a recarburizer in the production of cast iron and other iron-based alloys. It is added to the molten metal to increase its carbon content and improve its casting properties. Additionally, it is used as a fuel in the production of aluminum and other non-ferrous metals, and as a raw material in the production of graphite electrodes used in electric arc furnaces.
